The Sámi Education Institute has no tuition fees and provides free meals. Students coming from long distance have the possibility to stay in one or two persons rooms in the schools dormitories without costs. Students can apply for financial aid from Kela.
The beautiful setting of Inari provides students with a variety of free time activities on every day of the year. In the autumn there are great opportunities for fishing and picking berries. When the snow comes there are great possibilities for skiing in lit nature trails. When spring arrives it is nice to simply sit on the lake ice fishing and enjoying the sun.
Inari has a rich offering of cultural events. Several events are held in Inari all year round on an annual basis, such as the Indigenous Peoples International Film festival Skábmagovat, the Indigenous Peoples music event Ijahis Idja, as well as the exciting annual reindeer races. Inari is also the home of the Sámi museum Siida, which is both a popular meeting place and an exhibition centre for cultural and nature exhibits.
