Vocational Qualification in Nature and Environment
A nature guide is a multidisciplinary expert. A broad knowledge of nature and culture, combined with off-road skills, provides a strong foundation for the nature guidance profession. Students will learn customer service during internships while sharing with them local natural phenomena and culture.
The studies are practical and include the teaching of basic skills and knowledge in the first year. These include reading the landscape, using equipment outdoors on various terrain, and learning about nature and Sámi culture. During the second year, students learn more theory and put it to use in the workplace, developing customer service and guiding skills.
Students will guide a variety of clients in a wide range of nature activities.
Tourism in Lapland continues to grow and there is a demand for skilled instructors and guides.
In addition, emphasis is placed on healthy living with improved social, health care and nutrition.
