The Sámi Education Institute is a state-run educational facility.
The Sámi Education Institute has a Governing Board consisting of 11 members elected for four years at a time and their personal alternates. The National Board of Education appoints eight members, six of whom are nominated by the Sámi Parliament and at least one of whom represents the municipalities in the area. One member will be chosen from full-time teachers, one from other staff, and one from students (student member for 1 year). The Executive Secretary is the Principal.
