In the immediate vicinity of the Toivoniemi Campus Dormitories, there is a fish processing facility at Hopialampi.
Lake Vastusjärvi can be seen from the classroom windows.
Whitefish, pike, perch, burbot, Arctic greyling, and trout are the common fish species in the neighboring watersheds.

Rental of Premises for Professional Fishermen

Fish processing facilities in accordance with Finnish food law provide training for students attending the Sámi  Education Institute. 

Facilities are also rented to fishermen within the community to produce high quality products. At the fish processing facilities, it is possible to gut, skin, cut fillets, and to produce hot and cold smoked products. In addition, products may be vacuumed packed, canned,  and marinated on-site.
